Generating the package information that is required for an Advance Ship Notice (856) to be created from your Shipping Data Entry can be time consuming. By configuring your Auto-Pack Templates and your Package Settings you can greatly reduce the time need from generating the packaging details manually.

You can access the Package Settings, Auto-Pack Templates, and Shipment Automation screens by going into TrueCommerce EDI tab under the the Sales Order module.

Navigate: Sales Order → TrueCommerce EDI

Whenever configuring your Items and how they can be packaged you'll want to setup the Package Settings under the TrueCommerce EDI module. These settings allow you to configure exactly how many quantities of a specific item can fit into a package.

For example; if you configure your Item Code 0001 to have a Pack Quantity of 12 - then for every 12 units ordered the system will generate 1 Pack/Carton during the creation of the Advance Ship Notice into Transaction Manager.

Note: You can think of this as a simple division method, if your Partner orders 36 you would divide that by the Pack Quantity (36 / 12) to know that your Advance Ship Notice would sent 3 packs (36 /12 = 3).

Navigate: Sales Order → TrueCommerce EDI → Package Settings

Item Code: The Sage 100 Item to configure

Pack Quantity: How many (X expressed in Unit of Measure) fit inside a single Carton/Pack

Weight: Weight of the Item (per unit)

Status (Auto-Filled): If item is Active/Inactive

Unit of Measure (Auto-Filled): The default UOM for this item

Description (Auto-filled): Item Description

If you need to be more specific about how you pack your Items, you can setup a Auto-Pack Template. Which will allow you to setup rules specific to items, and how they'll be sorted and packed into various Cartons/Packages.

AutoPack Template Name: Enter a new template or select existing from dropdown list

Item Code: The Sage 100 item code

Box #: Which Carton/Pack to place this particular item into

Pack Quantity: How many of this item fit into the particular Carton/Pack.
