Product: Shipping Module

The Shipping Module solution provided by TrueCommerce is a flat-file integration that allows you to update existing Transactions with shipping information provided by an external shipping software, such as UPS Worldship or FedEx Shipping Manager.

The Shipping Module works off of two separate operations, the Ship Export and the Ship Import that work together (although both are not required) to pass Advance Ship Notice (856) information from Transaction Manager into a file, which then gets consumed by external shipping software (UPS/FedEx) that in return generates flat-file with the added information (such as Shipping Date, and Tracking #s) which Transaction Manager can then consume, and update the Advance Ship Notice with the proper information to be sent to the Trading Partner.

Note: Although it's primarily purpose is to update Advance Ship Notices - the Shipping Module can be used to update other documents as well, such as Invoices.

Ship Export

The Ship Export process is a simple flat-file creation that generates data from a Transaction within the Transaction Manager Outbox folder (typically, an Advance Ship Notice) that can then be fed into external software, such as UPS Worldship or FedEx Shipping Manager to generate tracking information for - although other uses for such a process have may be used, this is the most common. Eventually the external software will return a separate flat-file that can be used with our Ship Import functionality which updates the original ASN that was used for the Ship Export.

Ship Import

The Ship Import process takes a generated flat-file - which is typically created by third party software such as UPS WorldShip or FedEx Shipping Manager which updates an existing transaction (most often an ASN) inserting information from the file into the Transaction, such as Ship Date, Delivery Date, and Tracking #s
