Product: Gentran Server

In order for your Gentran Server to request and process data the system will connect to a SQL Server that houses the 'GentranDatabase'.

If you've moved your Gentran Database from one SQL server to another - or you need to correct a connection string to your database you can do so through the use of the OBDC Connection that is setup during your initial installation of your Gentran Server.

Stopping Services

If you're making changes to your SQL Connection - you'll want to shut-down Gentan and stop the Services associated with it first.

OBDC Setup

Navigate: C:\Windows\System32

Launch: obdcad32.exe

Select: System DSN (tab) โ†’ Gentran:Server

Select: Configure

Configuration

Once you've launched the OBDC Configuration window - you'll have the ability to follow the prompts entering your Server, SQL Credentials, and Test the connection

Server

You'll be able to make changes to the server that Gentran is pointing at within the first page

User/Password

By default when you navigate to this page, whether you've made changes or not - you'll need to re-enter your password for your SQL User.

Note: TrueCommerce recommends the sa user. If you are having issues connecting you'll need to switch to the sa user - if the issues stop then you'll need to correct your permissions on the other user, or switch to the sa user. TrueCommerce is not responsible for configuring your permissions

Note: Windows Authentication is not recommended. Please use a SQL Server user.

Database Setup

You can configure which database you're pointing to - the default database of GentranDatabase is what TrueCommerce will configure and setup.

However if you've previously been through a migration, you may have a GentranDatabase2 instead if you needed to have both databases running at the same time.

Use ANSI quoted identifiers

Please leave checked

Use ANSI nulls, paddings, and warnings

Please leave checked

Testing Connection

Once you've ran through the configuration of your OBDC - you'll be provided with a final screen that lets you test your connection.

If your connection was successful - you should now Restart your Gentran Services

Limited Supported

If you experience issues during your configuration - please note that TrueCommerce is only able to provide general support in clarifying the contents of this article. Your SQL Connection falls under environmental, and would fall within your IT Department to ensure a working OBDC Connection.
