Product: Dynamics GP (Enterprise)

If you're planning to upgrade your Dynamics GP or migrate your system operations to another server, you'll want to make sure you have all the moving pieces aligned properly to avoid as much disruption as possible. Here's a list of things you'll want to make sure you have completed

TrueCommerce Support

Support reps provide basic overviewing and troubleshooting, but the migration of your data, applications, and operations will need to be performed by your System Administrator.

Due to complexity of environments, permission sets, and system configurations TrueCommerce can only provide limited support in assisting with new system configurations and setups. All diagnostics will be required to be performed under local admin account (domain admins will not be sufficient) and under SA username for SQL bases operations. Any permission restricting and configuration will be the responsibility of your System Administrations team.

Note: TrueCommerce requires a 2-week advance scheduling notice to be able to properly allocate a support rep to assist. All resourcing will be scheduled out prior to the migration, and requires your team to thoroughly test the new environment.

Any attempt to switch to a new server before thoroughly testing will fall under our Disaster Recovery policy and will result in being billed.

TrueCommerce/vSync Module Pathing

Upgrading

If you're planning to upgrade your Dynamics GP - you'll need to update your vSync Modules - you'll want to reach out to the support team to receive the latest version of the modules based on the version of Dynamics GP you'll be upgrading to.

There are three modules known as SOP/POP/WHS - you'll want to check out the overview if you're not sure which ones you currently utilize or need

You'll need to upgrade if:

  • You're upgrading from one major version to another (e.g. GP2016 to GP2018)

You will not need to upgrade if:

  • You are upgrading a minor version (e.g. 18.1 to 18.2)

Migrating

Each of your TrueCommerce/vSync modules (SOP/POP/WHS) will require a Pathing update both at the global level as well as any partner specific pathing that may of been set.

Note: Please submit a case with a request for the appropriate modules you need to be sent to you along with the version of Dynamics GP you plan to upgrade to

CrazyTalk

Upgrading

If you are upgrading your Dynamics GP only - no changes to CrazyTalk is needed.

Migrating

If you're leveraging Transaction Manager Online your system will need to convert the files produced by Dynamic GP into an XML format for Transaction Manager to consume - so you'll want to adjust the input and output paths to make sure they're also updated to the correct systems

Note: If you installed a new instance of CrazyTalk on a different server - remember to turn off your OLD CrazyTalk services before activating the new ones to prevent loss of files!

CloudFTP Bridge

Upgrading

No changes are required for upgrading GP on the same server

Migrating

Using our Cloud/FTP solution? If you're not pushing data directly to/from Transaction Manager and your server, you may be utilizing our CloudFtpBridge solution which uploads the files to a TrueCommerce hosted FTP which reduces the server connectivity issues by consolidating it down to a single point.

Note: If you've installed Cloud FTP Bridge on a NEW server - remember to disable your OLD Cloud Bridge before activating the new one to prevent loss of files!

Transaction Manager Paths

Upgrading

No changes required for upgrading

Migrating

If you're sending/receiving files directly to your server you'll want to make sure that the Import and Export paths are properly updated - following the existing schema is the best option, as typically as the link between GP β†’ CrazyTalk β†’ Transaction Manager is a couple folder jumps during processing

Note: If you're utilizing our Cloud FTP solution - there is no changes required for the FTP portion (which is greyed out), however it is still recommended to set the local paths as some operations still use them

Automation Paths

If you're leveraging our scheduler service Automation to automatically send/receive data, you may need to change the paths associated with the scheduled tasks.

Upgrading

If you're upgrading Dynamics GP to a major version you will need the Automation compiled for this specific version - please contact support to acquire the latest installation module

Migrating

[Clients] Update Total Reports SQL Configuration

Updating

No changes required

Migrating

If you have existing Total Reports installed - those installations will need the SQL Server Information within its configuration updated so that Total Reports knows to point to the new SQL Server

[Clients] Total Reports Installation

Updating/Migrating

If you've installed a new instance of Dynamics GP - you may need to update/install Total Reports for any clients in order for them to see reports. The best way to achieve this, is to get a single client working and then copy over the configuration files to each remaining client (see Configuring Total Reports - Quick Copy) after installing the required components

Note: If you simply moved the SQL server, you'll just want to update the SQL Configuration portion

[Clients] Installation of TrueCommerce/vSync Modules

If you've installed a new instance of your Dynamics GP - you'll want to ensure each client has the TrueCommerce/vSync modules installed so that they can access the EDI Modules on their machines as well
