When customers want to obtain a summary of their billing and payment activity with a company, they can request a Statement. Statements are especially useful for those customers that are not enrolled in autopay, as they rely on these documents to stay informed about payment history and outstanding balances.
What Is a Statement?
A statement would be a snapshot of your accounts showing all open invoices in a list. If you are requesting a detailed statement, it could show payments, credits, and invoices already paid for the requested period of time. It helps you to track your financial activities, verify transactions, and identify any errors or unauthorized activities.
A Statement request involves asking for a statement of account, which provides a detailed list of all financial transactions between TrueCommerce and a customer over a specific period.
A Statement often includes:
Your Account information
A record of payments already applied to your account
Any Credit Memos issued (e.g., for returns or billing corrections)
A list of unpaid bills/invoices that are still outstanding
Statements serve as an important reference point for those who want to get a detailed picture of their account status, especially if they are managing payments manually rather than through automatic billing systems.
Why Would a Customer Request a Statement?
At times, customers may request a Statement for multiple reasons, such as:
To review their current account balance and track pending or missed payments
To verify the application of payments or credit memos
For auditing, accounting, or tax preparation purposes
As a reminder of outstanding balances before making a payment
