Overview

This release brings focused improvements to how you exchange EDI documents through TrueCommerce's integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (FSCM). From smarter routing workflows to better handling of acknowledgements and shipment data, here’s what is new, and what it means for your day-to-day operations.

Routing Requests and Instructions (EDIs 753 and 754)

If your business needs to request routing from a carrier or receive routing instructions from your customers, this release adds full support for the Request for Routing (EDI 753) and Routing Instructions (EDI 754) document types within Dynamics 365 FSCM.

Sending a Routing Request (EDI 753)

You can now create outbound routing requests directly from your shipment workbench. Once a shipment reaches a status of Loaded, it becomes eligible for an EDI 753 routing request. The process works as follows:

  • Navigate to EDI > Accounts receivable > Create/maintain > Route request planning workbench.

  • Filter by EDI trading partner ID, Site, Warehouse, Ship date and receipt, or any combination to find the relevant shipments.

  • Select one or more lines and use Routing requsts source to add them to a new or existing route request. You can also move an entire sales order at once.

  • Once your route request is ready, select RELEASE or Release request to partner. The outbound EDI 753 document will appear in the Outbound route request mailbox, ready to send.

A few setup steps are required before you begin:

  • Enable 753/754 trading under System/Company/Customer cross reference > Outbound tab > Routing requests section.

  • Under Organization Administration > Number sequences, set up a Number sequence for Routing Request IDs. Set the Area to ‘Accounts receivable’ and the Reference to ‘Routing Request Id’.

  • Select your preferred RouteRequestQtyType (‘Sales/Confirm Qty’, ‘ATP Qty’, or ‘Custom’) and your packing unit of measure under ROUTING REQUEST CREATION.

Receiving Routing Instructions (EDI 754)

Inbound routing instructions from your customers are now processed and accessible within Dynamics 365 FSCM. Once an EDI 754 message arrives, you can view it under Accounts Receivable > Import > Inbound routing instructions mailbox.

  • Open a message to review the full routing instructions document.

  • Click the Created document link to bring the routing details into your workflow.

  • Configure how to handle invalid references using the REPORTING drop-down in System/Company/Customer cross reference > Inbound tab > Routing Instructions.

TMS EDI 990 Tender Response: Rate Mismatch Handling

When a carrier returns a Load Tender Response (EDI 990) with a rate that differs from what was sent in the original tender, the system now gives you control over how to respond, rather than leaving it to guesswork.

A new Rate Options tab is available via Transportation > System/Company/Trading partner cross reference > Inbound tab > Inbound Tender Response section. From there, you can configure:

  • Price Tolerance: Set an acceptable threshold for rate differences, either as a fixed amount or a percentage, for both under-rate and over-rate scenarios.

  • Reporting Behavior: When an incoming rate falls within the tolerance, choose one of four responses:

    • 'Warn, Use ERP Rate': Flag the discrepancy and proceed using the original ERP rate.

    • 'Warn, Use Transmitted Rate': Flag the discrepancy and proceed using the carrier's transmitted rate.

    • 'Error Document': Stop processing and surface an error for review.

    • 'Ignore': Accept the difference silently and continue processing.

NOTE: Settings can be configured at the System level or overridden at the Company or Trading Partner level. Company and Trading Partner levels include a Default option that inherits from the next level up.

Outbound Purchase Orders (EDI 850): Delivery Schedule Lines

When a Purchase Order (PO) uses a delivery schedule in Dynamics 365 FSCM, some order lines were previously omitted from the outbound EDI 850 document. A new engine parameter corrects this.

The new parameter, IgnoreMultiDeliveryLineEntity, is available under Accounts payable > System/Company/Vendor cross reference > Outbound tab > PO and PO Changes section. Set this parameter to 'Do Not Use' to include the original PO lines that were adjusted via a delivery schedule.

NOTE: After updating the parameter, test with a representative PO to confirm the expected lines are appearing in the Outbound document.

Inbound ASNs (EDI 856): Item Arrival Journals

Accounts Payable customers can now automatically create Item Arrival Journals directly from inbound 856 Advanced Shipping Notices, streamlining the receiving process in Dynamics 365 FSCM.

To enable this, navigate to System/Company/Vendor cross reference > Inbound tab > ASNs > ERP Document Creation and select 'Item Arrival' from the ASN Import Type drop-down. A new Item Arrival Journal Creation section will appear with two settings:

  • Post Journal After Create: Set to 'Use' to automatically post the Journal upon creation, or 'Do Not Use' to leave it in draft for review.

  • Journal Name: Specify the journal to use for posting. This setting is available at the Company and Vendor level only.

NOTE: Journal Name configuration is only available at the Company or Vendor level, not at the System level. Ensure your Journal is set up in Dynamics 365 FSCM before enabling this option.

Outbound ASNs (EDI 856): License Plate IDs for Sorted Inventory Picking

For customers using Sorted Inventory Picking in their warehouse, TrueCommerce can now pull license plate IDs from those picking lines and map them into the UCC number field of the outbound 856 XML.

Two new parameters are available under System, Company, Customer Inbound, Advanced Ship Notices, Shipment Creation. Open Engine Parameters at the appropriate level to configure them:

  • Sorted Inventory Picking Option: Select how picking data is sourced for license plate IDs. Options are Pick Location Type, Put Location Type, and Output to Sort Location.

  • Location Type: Enabled when Pick Location Type or Put Location Type is selected. Choose the applicable system location type.

NOTE: Selecting Output to Sort Location disables the Location Type field. This option is equivalent to selecting Put Location Type with SORT as the location type.

Purchase Order Acknowledgement Warning Report: Flagged ACK Line Codes

The EDI PO Acknowledgement (EDI 855) Warning Report now surfaces individual acknowledgement line codes when a vendor's response includes conditions that warrant attention. Previously, these line-level details were not visible in the report output.

When a vendor sends an acknowledgement containing any of the following line codes, a flagged warning entry will now appear in the report, grouped by trading partner and document reference:

  • SU, Substitution: The vendor is proposing an item substitution.

  • FQ, Change Price: The vendor is indicating a price change.

  • DR, Change: A general change has been noted on the line.

  • BP, Reschedule: The vendor is requesting a schedule change.

This gives your purchasing team clearer visibility into vendor responses that require follow-up, without needing to dig into the raw EDI transaction.
