Trading Partner: Cabela's

Cabela's is a well-known outdoor sporting goods retailer that exchanges order and fulfillment data with their vendors through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Adding Cabela's as a Trading Partner in your network requires completing setup and compliance testing steps before transactions can begin flowing between systems.

Cabela's conducts compliance testing directly with vendors, meaning your setup and certification process is coordinated between the Cabela's EDI team and your TrueCommerce Implementation Specialist — rather than through a third-party testing portal. This article covers the key EDI identification values, preliminary setup steps, commonly used transactions, and what to expect as you move toward Go-Live.

EDI IDs

Cabela's utilizes the following Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) IDs for identification purposes. These EDI IDs are made up of a Qualifier and an ID which will be sent within their Interchange Control Header, ISA segment, on your inbound transactions. This allows Transaction Manager to be able to identify the Sender and Receiver of any EDI transaction that is sent or received.

The table below lists the most common EDI IDs typically used by Cabela's:

Cabela's will expect a specific EDI ID based on your business relationship with them. Selecting the wrong EDI ID will result in EDI Transactions not being sent or received. You will need to work with Cabela's to determine the proper EDI ID to use.

Preliminary Steps

Before TrueCommerce can begin onboarding Cabela's into Transaction Manager, you will need to initiate the EDI setup process directly with Cabela's EDI team.

Include the following details in your email:

  • Vendor Name

  • Vendor Number

  • Qualifier / EDI ID (ISA & GS ID)

  • Third Party Provider: TrueCommerce

Direct Trading Partner Testing

Cabela's requires you to complete compliance testing before Go-Live. Unlike some Trading Partners that use a third-party testing portal, Cabela's manages testing directly with their vendors. Your TrueCommerce Implementation Specialist will coordinate the testing plan and guide you through what is required.

If you prefer TrueCommerce to conduct and complete compliance testing on your behalf, provide the following to your Implementation Specialist:

  • Any EDI specification documents or test guidelines provided by Cabela's

  • Confirmation of your assigned EDI ID and Qualifier

Commonly Used Transactions

The table below lists the EDI transactions most commonly used when trading with Cabela's:

The EDI documents listed here are provided for reference only and may not be comprehensive. For the most up-to-date and complete list of required EDI documents, refer to any specification guides provided by Cabela's or your Implementation Specialist.

Next Steps

  1. Once the purchase of the Cabela's plug-in is complete, your Implementation Specialist will reach out to schedule time to complete and/or coordinate a plan for compliance testing and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system integration testing.

  2. Gather any EDI specification documents or test guidelines provided by Cabela's — your Implementation Specialist will need these to complete setup on your behalf.
