Trading Partner: Smart & Final

Smart & Final is a retail grocery Trading Partner that requires Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) compliance testing before Go-Live. To add Smart & Final to your EDI network, you will need to complete a few preliminary steps with their EDI team, after which your TrueCommerce Implementation Specialist will coordinate compliance and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system integration testing.

Below you will find the EDI IDs used by Smart & Final, preliminary setup requirements, commonly used transaction types, and what to expect during the implementation process.

EDI IDs

Smart & Final utilizes the following Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) IDs for identification purposes. These EDI IDs are made up of a Qualifier and an ID which will be sent within their Interchange Control Header, ISA segment, on your inbound transactions. This allows Transaction Manager to be able to identify the Sender and Receiver of any EDI transaction that is sent or received.

Below is a list of the most common EDI IDs typically used by Smart & Final:

Smart & Final will expect a specific EDI ID based on your business relationship with them. Selecting the wrong EDI ID will result in EDI Transactions not being sent or received.

You will need to work with Smart & Final to determine the proper EDI ID to use.

Next Steps

Once the purchase of the Smart & Final plug-in is complete, your Implementation Specialist will reach out to schedule time to complete and/or coordinate a plan for compliance testing and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system integration testing.

Smart & Final will issue a test order. Once the Functional Acknowledgement (997) is received back, Smart & Final will consider the testing complete. An invoice is not required for testing. The invoice will be required in production.
