Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations – Adding Columns to the EDI Mailbox

This article will go through how to add columns to the EDI mailboxes within the EDI module in D365, as well as pin this view as your default view.

Product: Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations

The EDI mailboxes in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (D3FO) display a default set of columns that may not always surface the information most relevant to your daily workflow. Adding custom columns — such as the Purchase Order number or Created Document — lets you reference key transaction details directly from the mailbox without opening each record individually.

Once your preferred columns are in place, you can save the layout and pin it as your default view so it persists every time you return to that mailbox. The steps below walk through the Inbound Sales Order Mailbox as an example, but the same process applies across other EDI mailboxes within Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

Insert a column in D3FO

In this case we will go through how to add columns to the inbound sales order mailbox within the EDI module of D3FO.

Navigate: EDI module → Accounts receivable → Import → Inbound sales order mailbox.

Action: To add a column in D365, click on the 3 dots located towards the right side of the column selector

Select: the Insert columns option.

Select the fields you want to add to the view.

  • Example (Inbound Sales order mailbox), select the created document and purchase order number fields. The purchase order number refers to the PO number, and the created document refers to the Sales order number that is generated after an 850 is imported in the inbound SO mailbox.

Save view and pin as default

Click on the dropdown next to Standard view* and click Save as.

Title your view and enable the “Pin as default view” to save this as your default view.
