Product: Total Reports

Total Reports is the reporting engine used for Dynamics GP to generate and display Audits and Error Reports from the system.

There are two installers for Total Reports, the first is the base installer which installs the server components, client components, and the dependencies. While the second installer is the Dynamics GP connector - which installs the configuration specifically for Dynamics GP

  • Will need SQL Server credentials for installation

Base Installation

The base installer provides us with all the required components to run the reporting system.

Total Reports - Base Installer

Client: Check for any computer that wishes to view reports/errors from Dynamics GP

Server: Check only if creating a new SQL Server configuration. Will install a new database to the SQL Server

.Net 2.0: required .NET dependency runtime modules

Crystal Reports: required runtime for report form generation

vSync Task Manager: required system that runs tasks in the background

SQL Server Connection

You'll be prompted to input your SQL Server information - this is because every Total Reports installation needs to create a connect string to the SQL server to pull information from the Dynamics GP company database to produce the reports (as errors are stored in the database) as well as the configuration information for Total Reports

Installation Path

C:\Program Files (x86)\vSync\TotalReports

Once complete, the system will of produced the Total Reports folder in the above path with the TotalReports.exe which can be launched to configure your Reports

Total Reports for GP (Clients Only)

You'll want to run the vSync Total Reports for Dynamics GP next - this is only needed for clients that wish to run the reports within their Dynamics GP system. This will extract the report files (.rpt) to display the information.

Note: Installer is marked for Dynamics GP 2010 regardless of the version you're installing.

Dynamics/SQL User

You'll be prompted for a SQL User that has access to all the Dynamic GP company databases you wish this user to be able to print reports for - as reports are generated from information stored in the database.

Reports

The installation will install all the needed report files located in the vSync/Reporting/Reports folder to be used by Dynamics GP

Note: These need to be present for every client

Next Steps

You'll need to configure your Total Reports with the proper company configurations before you can generate the reports within GP
