Product: Dynamics 365 Business Central

Whenever you are looking to upgrade your Dynamics 365 Business Central application you will need to first determine which version of Business Central you are using as it depends on which version of the extension you will need from TrueCommerce.

VAR

Since TrueCommerce only provides the extension objects, you will need to work with your VAR to properly install and compile any new updates from TrueCommerce.

With your VAR involved, you will simply need to acquire the latest extension from TrueCommerce. Read on to learn more, below.

Dynamics NAV - Business Central Upgrade

If you have upgraded from NAV to Business Central without a re-implementation, you are most likely still using our Dynamics NAV-based integration since Microsoft did not update its code at this point.

If you determine you are using the Dynamic NAV - Business Central update, you will need to obtain the latest NAV extension from TrueCommerce and request the specific Business Central update provided.

  • Dynamics NAV was rebranding in 2019 to "Business Central"

  • If your logo still displays NAV when you launch Business Central it is still considered Dynamics NAV for the TrueCommerce Extension

  • If your system is a desktop installed application it is most likely Dynamics NAV, as Dynamics 365 Business Central moved to a web browser-based solution

  • Requires a .FOB file to compile

If you are unsure which version you have, contact your VAR for verification as TrueCommerce is not responsible for your system's environment.

Dynamics 365 Business Central

Dynamics 365 Business Central 365 is the Cloud Solution provided by Microsoft and while brands the same label, it has an entirely different integration than our Dynamics NAV - Business Central integration.

There are two versions of Dynamics 365 Business Central: On-Premise and Cloud/SaaS. While most customers who migrate to Dynamics 365 Business Central use the Cloud/SaaS solution you will need to double-check whether you are using an On-Premise version of Dynamics 365 Business Central, which updates differently than that of the Cloud version.

On-Premise vs Microsoft Cloud Hosted

On-Premise

If you are using the On-premise version of Dynamics 365 Business Central, you will need an .app file that your VAR will need to manually compile against your system. You can access those files here:

Microsoft Cloud

If you are using a Microsoft hosted cloud server your TrueCommerce Extension will be available directly from the Microsoft AppSource. You can update your extension directly via the following links:

Need Assistance?

Since the Extension has to be compiled against your Dynamics 365 Business Central Server along with any other extensions you may have, TrueCommerce does not install or assist with the update/upgrade of the extension itself, as that is the responsibility of your VAR.

TrueCommerce does not support compatibility with other extensions. As such, it is recommended that thorough testing be completed prior to moving the upgrade into Production so that if any issues arise, there is adequate time to address them.
