WHAT IS AN AUTO-ADD TRIGGER?

The Automatic Add trigger automatically adds product(s) to the Shopping Cart when a shopper meets the trigger requirements. The trigger may be the addition of a product to the Shopping Cart; the addition of any product in a specified category to the Shopping Cart; the use of a Coupon; or the passing of a query string parameter.

Merchants use auto-add triggers in many different ways and for different purposes. Perhaps you'd like to make it easy for a customer to order once they've called to ask questions - you could send a link that takes them to the product detail page and automatically adds the product to the cart. Or you may want to send an email promo, or post an online digital Ad where the link does all the work so your customers don't have to.

STEPS TO SET UP AN AUTO-ADD TRIGGER

1. Set up your auto-add preferences (Products / Preferences [blue button at top] / Automatic Add Preferences)

2. Ensure that all products and coupons involved in the auto-add are set up as products in your Order Management System (OMS)

3. Set up the trigger

4. Test your online store thoroughly to ensure that you’ve created the desired result
