There are various Weight Capture Modes that can be selected in the Pack & Ship General Settings menu.
The Weight Capture Mode selected in the General Settings menu will apply to all users unless their User Preferences are updated to a different selection; i.e. User Preferences override General Settings. (See bottom of this document for User Preferences instructions)
By default, User Preferences are blank and, therefore, the General Setting selection applies until a user updates their own setting.

Choose Weight Capture Mode - General Settings
Navigate to the Pack & Ship General Settings page.
Select one of the Weight Capture Mode options from the drop-down.
1. Use Calculated Weight
Scale readings are not enabled in this mode.
Packages and pallets will be assigned weight values based on the weights of the Products packed into them.
If Products do not have a defined weight, then the weights will remain zero or the defined ‘Empty Weight’ of the package/pallet type.
You can manually enter weight values in this mode.
2. Scale Weight – No Prompt
Applies only to packages, not pallets.
You will not be prompted to place the package on the scale.
Scale reading is assigned after the package is saved.
3. Prompt for Weight
Applies only to packages, not pallets.
You will be prompted to place the package on the scale.
Scale reading is assigned after the package is saved.
4. Prompt for Weight – Exclude Child Packages
Applies only to pallets, not packages.
You will be prompted to place the pallet on the scale.
Scale reading is assigned after the pallet is saved.
Choose Weight Capture Mode - User Preferences
Navigate to the Pack & Ship User Preferences page.
Select one of the Weight Capture Mode options from the drop-down.
