Applicability Statement 2 (AS2) is a communication protocol used for securely transmitting Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) messages over the internet. It is one of the most popular methods for exchanging EDI data between businesses due to its reliability, security features, and ability to support real-time document exchange.
Each end of the communication exchanges AS2 Certificates that provide a verified handshake between networks to ensure that data can be passed back and forth to a verified destination. These certificates have expirations built into them that ensure that a connection does not remain open indefinitely.
Why do AS2 Certificates Expire?
The TrueCommerce AS2 Certificate is expiring on July 22, 2025.
AS2 certificates expire because they have a limited validity period for security reasons, and to reduce the risk of misuse if a private key is compromised. Expiring certificates can disrupt EDI/AS2 communication between trading partners, leading to potential downtime and data breaches if not addressed proactively. Businesses need to manage and renew certificates regularly to ensure secure and uninterrupted data exchange. It is very important to import the new certificate so that you can continue to exchange EDI documents with your trading partners without disruption.
How do I import the certificate to Net-Transfer?
Net-Transfer is a software solution for secure, reliable AS2 data exchange. It allows businesses to send and receive data securely over the internet, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
To import the certificate to Net-Transfer, perform the following steps:
1. Obtain the new certificate by copying and pasting it to Notepad and saving the file as a .cer file type.
