It can often be fairly confusing understanding how data is transferred, transformed, and translated when stepping into the world of Integrated Business Systems. To simplify things we need to understand the difference, and the purpose, of the different data sets that are being passed between the Business System, Transaction Manager, and the Trading Partner.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): The primary type of Business System your company utilizes to house all your customer's data permanently; such as Customer Records, Bills, Invoices, and Orders as well as Inventory & Fulfillment data.

The ERP's responsible for being the primary source of all data across your business operations.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI): A system of standardized transaction based forms (Transaction Sets) that all your Trading Partners adhere to is order to make trading with them universal and efficient.

Bridging the Gap

Since your Business System or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software features custom configurations base on your business needs you will need a way to feed and translate its customizable data with that of the standardized Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) format in order to properly communicate with your Trading Partner the required information to keep data flowing.

This is done through the use of the Integrations layer built into Transaction Manager. With Transaction Manager bridging between custom and standardized solution, any of our integrations can help keep your needed operations flowing specific to your business solution.

How Does it Work?

Your Trading Partners only accepts standardized EDI format, which is a restricted set of data specific to the type of Transaction you're attempting to send (Invoice (810) for example) while your ERP system will have its own unique fields that may not be relevant to the EDI data your Trading Partner wishes to see.

By utilizing an Integrated solution with Transaction Manager - TrueCommerce is able to bridge the gap by transforming your Business System's data with that of the EDI data allowing for a continues flow of the data fit to each of the end's requirements in order to communicate needed information automatically between your company and your Trading Partner's.
