This X12 Transaction Set contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Motor Carrier Shipment Pickup Notification Transaction Set (216) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This transaction set can be used to allow shippers or other interested parties to provide a motor carrier with notification that a shipment is available for pickup. It is not to be used to provide a motor carrier with data relative to a legal bill of lading, rating, pricing, or appointment scheduling.

1/0200 | PUN04 is required on the original pickup notification as well as any change or cancel pickup notifications when scheduling multiple pickups the same day. |
1/0300 | The G61 segment is used to provide the motor carrier with the name and phone number of the contact that can answer questions concerning the freight available for pickup at the location specified in loop 0100. |
1/0400 | The TEM segment provides the motor carrier with the total number of handling units and the approximate weight of the shipment that is available for pickup at the location specified in loop 0100. |
1/0450 | The K2 segment will convey special instructions regarding the pickup to the carrier. Examples of these special instructions could include items such as: non-stackable pallets, no dock, make pickup at door 3 today, urgent; must be picked up today. |
1/0500 | Loop 0100 is used to provide the motor carrier with the pickup (ship-from) location and the delivery (ship-to) location. |
