Transaction Manager - [ERROR] Trading Partner is not configured for Inventory Synchronization

Explains the cause and fix for the Inventory Synchronization error in Transaction Manager when importing an 846, including how to verify the Active status, Import Document Type, and Primary Item Field settings.

Written by John Kaminsky

Product: Transaction Manager

Issue: When importing an 846 (Inventory Inquiry/Advice) in Transaction Manager, the following error is received: 'Trading Partner [Partner Name] is not configured for Inventory Synchronization'

Reason: The Inventory Inquiry/Advice transaction for the Trading Partner has not been fully configured. The transaction must be set as Active, have the correct Import Document Type assigned, and have the Primary Item Field set in order for the 846 to import successfully.

Solution - Verify Inventory Inquiry Configuration

Navigate: Transaction Manager → Trading Partners → (Partner)PreferencesTransactions

Note: The following three settings must all be correctly configured. If any one of them is missing or incorrect, Transaction Manager will not be able to process the 846 for that Trading Partner.

Step 1 — Verify the Transaction is Active

Click: The Status tab

Locate: The Inventory Inquiry/Advice row

Check: Confirm the Active checkbox is checked ✓

Step 2 — Verify the Import Document Type

Click: The Integration tab

Locate: The Inventory Inquiry/Advice row

Verify: The Import Document Type column is set to Inventory Report or Catalog Import

Step 3 — Verify the Primary Item Field

Click: The Translations tab

Locate: The Inventory Inquiry/Advice row

Verify: The Primary Item Field column is set to the appropriate value (e.g., Buyer's Part #) so the Item Catalog can be used to filter items
