Dynamics 365 Business Central - Setting Up Service to Service Authentication

Step-by-step guide for setting up Service to Service (S2S) Authentication in Dynamics 365 Business Central to connect with TrueCommerce Foundry without requiring a dedicated user account.

Written by John Kaminsky

Product: Dynamics 365 Business Central

Service to Service (S2S) Authentication is an alternative method for connecting TrueCommerce's Foundry platform with Dynamics 365 Business Central that does not require creating a dedicated user account within Business Central. This can be useful in environments where adding additional user licenses is not preferred or available.

Unlike the standard OAuth sign-in method — which links a specific Business Central user account to Transaction Manager — S2S authentication registers TrueCommerce as a trusted application directly within Business Central's Microsoft Entra Applications, allowing the integration to operate independently of a named user.

Only admin accounts can complete all the setup steps in this section.
