Product: Dynamics 365 Business Central

Transaction Manager pushes and pulls data from Dynamics 365 Business Central through the usage of Web Services which require proper Authentication in order for them to be accessed by Transaction Manager.

To complete this authorization Transaction Manager leverages an Open Authorization (OAuth) pass which uses a secure way of logging into a Microsoft Account without storing the credentials on the Transaction Manager by performing a hand-shake through logging into your Microsoft Account through a Microsoft Authentication Server, a specialized server used for authorizing two different applications to talk to each other.

Enabling OAuth

In order for Transaction Manager to be granted access to your Business Central system you will need to ensure that the Transaction Manager settings have Enable OAuth turned on.

This is the default setting and should already be enabled for most users

Signing in

You will need to log into your Microsoft Account through Transaction Manager at least once for it to link with Dynamics 365 Business Central using OAuth 2.0.

Navigate: Integration Settings

Select: Sign in with Microsoft

Sign In: Use your regular Microsoft credentials to sign in as if it was Dynamics 365 Business Central

User Credentials & Permissions

When Signing into a Microsoft Account - be sure to keep in mind that the account you sign into through the Transaction Manager sign in page for Microsoft will be the account used to authenticate all actions performed from Transaction Manager, such as creating, deleting, or modifying records.

As such it is required that the user associated to the Transaction Manager platform must have the proper permission sets configured by your System Administrator or Value Added Reseller (VAR) in order for Transaction Manager to be granted propre access from Business Central.

Microsoft Credentials page may try to auto-sign in using the user you're already signed in as with your Web Browser if you're already signed into Business Central.

Popup Blockers

A popup blocker may prevent Transaction Manager from opening the needed popup to properly redirect you to a Microsoft Authentication login page - if nothing happens when you attempt to Sign In please check your popup blocker within your Web Browser.

You may need to disable your browser pop-up blocker as it may prevent the window from displaying.

Expired Authentication/Credentials

After establishing a connection by signing into a Microsoft Account through the Integration Settings page the system will check and refresh any authentication from Business Central through usage of Transaction Manager that performs any operation interacting with Business Central automatically.

However typically 90 days of inactivity will result in an expired authentication that would require a sign in again to continue operations. Authentication will also be invalid if a user changes their password, and will be required to log in again with the new password.
