228 - Equipment Inspection Report

This X12 Transaction Set contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Equipment Inspection Report Transaction Set (228) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This transaction set can be used by a transportation carrier to provide equipment owners with the results of an equipment inspection activity. This transaction set can be used to communicate whether or not the equipment is in a damaged state. If damage has been identified, it can also be used to convey details regarding the damage. It is not used to convey information relevant to damage claims or repair activities.

The M7 at position 1300 is used to convey the original seals numbers.

The N1 loop is used to convey the equipment owner, operator, or any parties associated to the equipment.

The M7 at position 1/3400 is used to convey the new seals after inspection. Only transmitted when a seal number has been replaced. All seals must be transmitted when any single seal has been replaced.
