This X12 Transaction Set contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Railroad Mark Register Update Activity Transaction Set (434) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set can be used to allow the Railroad Industry Reference File central site to communicate Mark Register update activity to subscribers. This information includes the assignment and expiration of railroad reporting marks, Standard Carrier Alpha Codes (SCAC) and unit initials.
