Some of the terminology used most often in Mapping Manager how-to content includes:

  • Column based - an export or import file type where header the item data are contained in one row; typically used with .csv file formats.

  • Entity - an import or export definition in Mapping Manager. Export definitions define transactions and the options used when exporting from Transaction Manager. Import definitions define transactions and the options used when importing into Transaction Manager.

  • Lookup Tables - Select Lookups to create new Lookup Tables. Both default or translation Lookup Tables can be created. These correspond to the Lookup Tables under each trading partner in Transaction Manager.

  • Lookups - custom translation tables that can be built based on any criteria on a transaction and used in both importing and exporting with Transaction Manager. Lookups can only translate based on a one-to-one relationship. New Lookup Tables can be added at any time.

  • Project - the equivalent of a business system plug-in (BSP); a software module that maps the EDI data to the specific requirements of the user's accounting system. BSPs are called Projects in Mapping Manager.

  • Token Mapping - contains the mapping between the Project fields and Transaction Manager fields that is used when importing and exporting with Transaction Manager.
