Use the Foundry search panel to customize which data you want displayed on the Unified Commerce Products page.

You can search (filter) product records by various criteria including name, category, SKU, and country of origin. Search panel documentation can be found in the Foundry User Interface Online Help. This article focuses on the special syntax required to search by product Attributes and Variants.

Searching by Attributes

Attribute entries in Unified Commerce are listed under a product’s Attributes tab and are used to identify distinctive features such as shape, style, material, and so on.

The golf club example above includes the attribute ‘Grip Material’ with a value of ‘Silicon’. This information is searchable using the Foundry search panel.

You can search for products using the attribute value alone (silicon).

Include the attribute prefix (grip material:silicon) to render exclusive search results.

Multiple attributes can be entered in the Attributes search field.

Note that all values entered in the Attributes search field are evaluated under the Is Equal To rule.

To search products based on an attribute:

1 ) Expand the Foundry search panel.

2) Type a valid attribute value in the Attributes field and click Add.

3) Click the Search control at the top of the panel to start the search. In this example, the search found all products with attribute values equal to ‘silicon’:

Note that the products retrieved in this example include one watch. To filter out everything but golf clubs, you would need to add the attribute prefix (grip material:silicon) to ensure the search results are specific to grip materials. You can also combine Attributes with other search panel fields to render more precise results.

Searching by Variants

Variant entries in Unified Commerce are listed under a product’s Items tab and are used to distinguish between two or more uniquely saleable items for the same product, such as by size, color, flavor and so on.

The golf club example above includes the variant ‘Shaft Length’ with values of ‘+.5, +.25, or -.25’ inches, where each variant entry represents a different SKU under the same product. This information is searchable using the Foundry search panel.

You can search for products using the variant value alone (+.25).

Include the variant prefix (shaft length:+.25) to render exclusive search results.

Multiple variants can be entered in the Variants search field.

Note that all values entered in the Variants search field are evaluated under the Is Equal To rule.

To search products based on a variant:

1 ) Expand the Foundry search panel.

2) Type a valid variant value in the Variants field and click Add.

3) Click the Search control at the top of the panel to start the search. In this example, the search found all products with variant values equal to ‘+.25’:

For more precise results, you can combine Variants with other search panel fields. Use the Save Search option to save complex search panel settings for future use.
